Frequently Asked Questions:
Q.1: I cannot download a PDF file. Instead, I get a page of computer gobbledigook saying I don't have permission.
Q.2: I have found an error in the journal webpages, or I have found a typo in a Notornis PDF. Who should I tell so the errors can be fixed?
Q.1: I cannot download a PDF file. Instead, I get a page of computer gobbledigook saying I don't have permission.
From January 2007, only individual and institutional members have access to the PDF articles of issues ≤ 3 years old. When you try to download a recent PDF, you should get a box asking for your username and password, unless you are working from a computer that has an IP address identifying it as being part of the network of an institutional subscriber.
If you work at an institution that is an institutional subscriber to Notornis, you should be able to access all of the latest PDFs from any networked work computer (if you cannot, have your IT person contact the Notornis webmaster Jon Sullivan and we will set it up). If you are a member and you do not have a username and password, or your username and password are not working, please contact Jon Sullivan. There will soon be an automatic feature where you will be able to supply your name and have your password emailed to the email address you have supplied to OSNZ with your other membership informataion.
Q.2: I have found an error in the journal webpages. Who should I tell so the errors can be fixed?
All the contents and abstract webpages are dynamically generated from a large central MySQL database of citation information. Much of this information has been manually proof-read from computer read scans of printed pages. We have run several careful proof-reading sweeps through the database, but with so many articles, there will certainly be a few errors left to catch.
If you find a web or PDF error, please let us know and it will be corrected. Please email a description of the error, or suspected error, to webmaster Jon Sullivan. When describing the error, make sure to include the web address of the webpage, or the file name and page number of the PDF file.
